Golden BC is a town of about 5,000 people (7,000 if you count the surrounding area), located in the heart of the mountains in the Eastern part of province. Golden sits between the Canadian Rocky Mountains and Columbia Mountain ranges, and at the confluence of the Columbia and Kicking Horse Rivers. Its reputation is as a year-round outdoor playground and adventure land offering world class white water rafting, skiing (back country and resort), sledding, biking (cross country and downhill), hiking and much more.
Oh yeah, and Golden is knock-your-socks-off beautiful. (okay, maybe the town itself is a bit of a diamond-in-the-rough but the surrounding geography is unquestionably breathtaking). While Golden BC is already well known among hard-core adventure types (you can do some pretty extreme stuff here), its softer side is perhaps less well known but it definitely exists. Our family is a testament -- 'outdoorsy lites' at best who decided to move here full time because we loved so much the lifestyle Golden has to offer.
